What Are Account Settings?

Account Settings are a series of account management tools available to Account Owners and- to a lesser extent- Team Owners.

When Would I Use Account Settings?

  • To manage the creation and organization of Dashboards

  • To manage the Enterprise Sign-Up Page

How Do I Use Account Settings?

*Note: CrowdTangle no longer surfaces Twitter data.

Accessing Account Settings

CrowdTangle Account Settings are available to all Account Owners and- to a lesser extent- Team Owners.  Account Settings can be found under the gear icon on the upper right hand side of any CrowdTangle Dashboard.

Teams

For more information about Teams, visit the Team Management article.

Dashboards:

This section allows you to see (and access) all Dashboard that have been created under your Account.  You also have the ability to create new Dashboards in this area.

Note- to delete a Dashboard, contact support@crowdtangle.com

Users:

Account Owners:

Each account can have multiple Account Owners, all of which will be listed at the top of the User section.  Additionally, you can decide who- if anyone- will be e-mailed when someone makes a request to join one of the Account's Dashboards.

Using the "Invite Owner" button will allow you to invite a brand new CrowdTangle user into your account, setting them as an Account Owner once they confirm their registration in the new user email CrowdTangle sends them.

All Other Users:

You can either manage existing users or create new ones.  Any users created here can automatically be given access to every Dashboard associated with the Account once they confirm their registration in the automatically generated email from CrowdTangle.

Existing users can either be promoted to Account Owners or deleted from the Account in this section.

Pending Access Requests:

Users in your Account are able to request access to Dashboards associated with the Account after logging into CrowdTangle.  Those access requests can be managed in this section of Account Settings.

For more information on how users can request access to Dashboards, see our User Management article.

Domains

Each Account comes with an Enterprise Sign-Up page that allows users to self-register for CrowdTangle.  The Domains section of Account Settings allows you to white list specific e-mail domains to control who can use your sign up page.  Note that Domains set up in this area of Account Settings are Account-level Domains (see below).  For more information on setting up Team-level Domains, visit our Team Management article.

When a new user attempts to sign up for CrowdTangle using your Account's Enterprise Sign-Up Page, one of three things will happen:

If the user's e-mail domain matches an Account-level domain:  The user will receive an email with a registration confirmation link.  Once they have completed registration, they will have access to all of the Dashboards associated with the Account.

If the user's e-mail domain matches a Team-level domain:  The user will receive an email with a registration confirmation link.  Once they have completed registration, they will be added to the Team associated with the email domain and will have access to the Dashboards associated with that Team.

If the user's email domain doesn't match any of the Account domains: The user will receive an error on the page:
