CrowdTangle is an analytics platform from Facebook that builds easy-to-use tools in collaboration with partners to deliver greater transparency into the spread of public information on social media.

The CrowdTangle US State Elections 2020 Live Displays were built to help understand the public conversation around the voting for the upcoming November US elections on Facebook. They are designed so people can monitor how voting for both the local and general elections are being discussed publicly across Facebook in an easy to navigate view.

This Live Display searches for voting terms and surfaces the most recent posts from Pages for each of the 50 US states. Below, we've broken out how we built each column, and how they're organized.

  • Column 1: Displays posts that include the voting terms from Pages for local politicians and elected officials in the state, ranked by the most recent content. This column can be filtered by performance, timeframe, language or country under the gear dropdown.

  • Column 2: Displays posts that include the voting terms from Pages for government agencies in the state, ranked by the most recent content. This column can be filtered by performance, timeframe, language or country under the gear dropdown.

  • Column 3: Displays posts that include the voting terms from Pages for universities and colleges in the state, ranked by the most recent content. This column can be filtered by performance, timeframe, language or country under the gear dropdown.

  • Column 4: Displays posts that include the voting terms from Pages for community groups or institutions in the state, ranked by the most recent content. This column can be filtered by performance, timeframe, language or country under the gear dropdown.

  • Column 5: Displays posts that include the voting terms from Pages for local media and news in the state, ranked by the most recent content. This column can be filtered by performance, timeframe, language or country under the gear dropdown.
